19 mobile photographs cut and layered

In my iPhone archive, there is a bunch of photographs via WhatsApp. For me, they play the role of image, object, material, time and space that smoothly flows and circulates in flux. As usual, I began to choose some images and printed them out. I cut out the object within the photograph - in this work, I cut the doors and windows that would be able to carry a role as a passage. Then, I put photo cut out on top of the other ones that don't cut until they make a certain depth. An interesting thing in the process is that the partial scene inside the empty frame was inconspicuous in the original photograph. Visually, the landscape that enters the eye through this virtual frame has been in harmony with the landscape of the superposed one, as if it were real. These virtual frames seemed to act as a passe-partout making mobile structure so that they create a space within Photopiles as deep as the thickness of the overlapping photos. Consequently, They create the layered, hybrid landscape as well as time and space that exists only within Photopiles. 28/08/22 Sunyoung Park
